Community Response to Sayville Donations Center is Fast and Strong

Within hours long tables at Sweet Frog were piled high with clothing and supplies for families needed help after Hurricane Sandy.

The community response to a emergency donations post set up by a local Sayville business and a Sayville resident was fast and swift Thursday, as donors dropped off bags and bags of clothing and emergency items such as blankets, food, candles and toiletries.

Sweet Frog, a frozen yogurt business on Sunrise Highway, and Stacy Antos collaborated to organize the emergency supply effort and within just a few short hours found themselves sorting bags of clothing that quickly filled the store.

The big challenge then was finding local organizations that could take the supplies and get them to those needing help.
