B-BP Student Recipient of State Firemen's Scholarship Award

Bayport-Blue Point High School senior Christine Bachek has been awarded the Firemen's Association of the State of New York Volunteer Scholarship.

Christine received a certificate as well as a check for $1,000 for her volunteer service in the community.

Christine will graduate from Bayport-Blue Point High School and will attend Geneseo College.  She is a member of Bayport Junior Fire Department and volunteers with BASO Summer Orchestra.

Christine was one of 15 students chosen for this scholarship. Nearly 100 students throughout the state applied for this scholarship.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of an applicant’s volunteer service to his or her community (e.g., community projects, fire department, scouting, church, school, work with senior citizens, fire prevention projects, 4-H, etc.) and the proof of his or her character (e.g., community citizenship, dependability, etc.)
