The Bayport Civic Association was founded in 2003 and according to its mission statement, its purpose is to "unite the residents of Bayport in order to maintain and improve the quality of life of its citizens; to promote and preserve the rich, historic and unique character of our hamlet; and to undertake projects for the general welfare of the people of our community."

Three years ago, the BCA began holding an installation dinner in January as a way to reward its members with something different from its monthly meetings.  "It gives us a chance to reflect on previous year and look forward to the new year," Draffin said.

Every year the Bayport Civic Association chooses someone that has helped them throughout the year to give the oath to incoming executive board members.  This year Suffolk County Legislator William Lindsey has accepted the honor.

Serving for one year terms, the executive board members positions are nominated and voted on at the BCA December meeting.  For 2011, the six executive officers of the Bayport Civic Association will remain the same as last year.
