This year's festive Christmas tree in downtown Sayville, and which was the star attraction last weekend during the official tree lighting event, was donated by a Bayport family.
Bayport resident Betty Rhodes donated the tree to the Greater Sayville Chamber of Commerce in remembrance of her husband, Harvey B. Rhodes, Jr., who passed away a year ago.
Rhodes, 86, was a WWII Navy Veteran and ex-chief of the Bayport Fire Department.
