The American Legion and the Sayville Fire Department are hosting a blood drive at the fire house today from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and organizers are hoping for a large turnover given the storm events of the past two weeks.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, local area hospitals are suffering from an unprecedented blood supply shortage due to the disruption of blood donations at the various blood centers, as well as the cancellation of countless blood drives across our area.
