All Quiet, Normal as Hurricane Sandy's Arrival Gets Closer

Kids played at the Foster Beach swings, boats took a ride on calm bay waters Saturday.

You wouldn't know, just by driving through Sayville and Bayport Saturday, that a major hurricane force was due to land hard Monday night, threatening big wind and big rain.

Parents watched their children enjoy a fall day at Foster Avenue playground, plenty of boats remained hitched in slips at Sayville piers and the town docks down at Bayport Beach, which was devasted in last year's Nor'Easter storm season and finally rebuilt late this summer.

Now and then Patch spotted someone trimming a tree, and boats were being hauled out but no big lines of panic.
