Aftermath of Irene: Evidence of Destruction is Everywhere

What a difference a day makes, especially from a hurricane's arrival to 24 hours later.

The bay is calm and the sun is bright. Flood waters have receded out of roadways. But dozens of trees are bent over and debris lines every block south of Montauk Highway. Patch took a ride Monday around Sayville mid-day to assess Irene's impact and found residents cleaning up, town workers inspecting docks and store owners open for business once again.
