5 Things to do at Corey Beach

The Brookhaven Town park offers something for everyone in the summer.

One of the nicest bay beaches on the South Shore is Corey Beach in Blue Point, with Long Island residents from as far as the north shore hitting the Brookhaven Town beach to enjoy the bay and all the amenities at the park at the end of Corey Avenue.

While enjoying the bay and sun is a big allure, there are also several other reasons residents from Blue Point to West Sayville and beyond call Corey their summer place to be. Here are just five things that residents can enjoy while at Corey Beach.

  1. The marina and dock section, to the west of the beach area, offers easy ramp for boat launches, as well as a nice scenic dock to walk, especially in the early morning and early evening as the sun set.
  2. Right across from the marina and docking area is a great seafood restaurant. Jt’s on the Bay is hugely popular given its expansive outdoor seating which patrons enjoy all afternoon and evening. The food is fresh, the service is great and it’s the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail after a day enjoying the beach.
  3. Take a break from the beach and walk down to the infamous Flo’s stand for their popular French fries, or even a full seafood meal. Comfortable seating with umbrellas offer a respite from the sun and the service if friendly and fast. Best time is before lunchtime hits or mid day. Flo’s is a favorite of many across Long Island in the summertime.
  4. If the kids are squabbling a bit, corral them up and walk over to the beach shoppe that opened just before the summer, directly across from the beach area. There are plenty of affordable beach toys and games to grab and it’s definitely worth the short trek to see the store’s collection of hermit crabs in beautifully painted shells. It’s also a godsend for those who forgot the sun lotion or who need a coverup to guard against too much sun. The store has everything a beach lover needs.
  5. If you’re not up for the beach and making sandcastles, enjoy Corey Beach’s grass park and picnic area that is beautifully shaded and a great place for the kids to have a game of whiffle ball or just enjoy a cool area to read. Just bring the insect repellent if you come late in the day.
