Understanding the Museum Pass Program at Your Library

The Bayport-Blue Point Public Library offers a variety of museum passes for members to borrow all year round!  If you are interested in visiting a museum, be sure to ask if we have a pass available and you will have free admission to that museum, plus a variety of other perks!

 

In order to borrow a museum pass the member must:

Find out what's happening in Sayville-Bayportwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

1.      Have a valid Bayport-Blue Point Library card with no fines

2.      Reserve the passes in advance

In order to reserve a museum pass in advance, the member may either:

1.      Call the Adult Reference Desk at 631-363-6133

2.      Visit the Adult Reference Desk in person

3.      Reserve a pass online through the library’s website at http://www.bayportbluepointlibrary.org/

 

There are a few more guidelines:

1.      Cardholders may not place more than one hold in a month

2.      Each pass may be borrowed for 3 days, maximum

3.      Passes may be picked up at the Adult Reference Desk

4.      Late fees are $25 a day

 

Which passes does the library have?  We currently have 5 passes available for members to use.

 

American Museum of Natural History

            The museum is renowned for its exhibitions and scientific collections, which serve as a field guide to the entire planet and present a panorama of the world’s cultures.

This pass is the exception to the rule, as we provide one time use vouchers to members.  Each patron will receive a one vouchers for general admission and one special exhibition, film, or animal exhibition.  There is a limit of 4 vouchers per family.

Intrepid, Sea, Air & Space Museum

            The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits objects and documents pertinent to whaling, especially the regional whaling history of Long Island, whale conservation, and the history of Cold Spring Harbor as a maritime port.

There is a limit of 1 family per pass.  This is considered a maximum of 6 people.  With this pass, members will also have access to the Express-Members Only Line, and if interested in the museum’s Family Membership, will receive a 10% discount.

Long Island Children’s Museum

            A hands-on museum for kids and their grown-ups.  You’ll find places to play, learn, and have fun.

There is a limit of 6 people per pass.  With this pass, members will also receive a discount at the LICM store.

Children’s Museum of the East End

            A museum that aspires to teach children about the East End and the world around them by promoting learning through play.

There is a limit of 1 family per pass.  This is considered a maximum of 4 people.

Vanderbilt Museum

            A unique combination of mansion, marine, and natural history museum, planetarium, and park.

There is a limit of 2 adults and 4 children per pass.  With this pass, members receive general admission, admission to the mansion tour, and admission to the Planetarium.
