It is called "Fairway Manor" for a reason: There was supposed to be a nine-hole golfRead Morecours e built next to Nicolls Road. That was the public benefit for allowing the existing apartments to be built there.

Hi: A few thoughts from one who’s been close to this project for 26 years now. ThereRead Moreshould be an article about this proposal coming up on Patch soon. That article will not contain as much info. as you can find in the Flyer on one of numerous signs around the community. The project is the latest attempt by the owners to violate most of the promises that made Fairway Manor possible. They have asked for more units 3 x’s now. They’ve asked for open to any age 2 x’s now. They’ve asked to open the roads 2 x’s. They’ve asked to cut affordable units before. Etc. The land to be built is already developed it’s potential yield went to the complex. All the Islip side’s 394 units include 176 from the “golf course” side. The Community benefit was not a golf course it is: A. Keep the green space up on Nicolls Rd., as Golf Course or vacant. B. Keep the local streets closed. C. Get Senior housing vs. ~82 homes. D. Provide a substantial affordable component. Other promises were made but not in writing, so they never happened. I could share much more. Pick up a Flyer. We try to keep them filled, but one day now and someone’s already pulled down several signs. If you think you can trust anything these guys are promising now, just look back at how they've behaved for 26 years now. Don't trust them w/ a 10 cent goldfish.
