Dear Minx. When you book a party at a restaurant, a deposit is usually required. We left a deposit…Read More on a credit card that was charged to my account. This is not a wedding or a large party, further payments for small parties are not required. A $100 deposit is it, to hold your room. They said they would contact me around a week before to go over the menu. This is not rocket science. I have previously owned a restaurant. When you screw up a party, be accountable. I stick to my boycott.

I know you must be annoyed by this incident, Mr. Schulken, but I would not think of boycotting a…Read More business before hearing their side of the story. There is too much left untold here. Did they acknowledge your deposit by running your card through? Did it show up on your card? Why did you not confirm with them and discuss the arrangements until one week before the party? It seems to me they would have wanted further payment long before then. It could have been an oversight on their part or it could have been bad management, or it could even have been a misunderstanding on your part. I sympathize with your plight, but I don't think you should ask people to boycott a restaurant based on your rather spotty accounting of the situation. I'd like to know how this happened.

Thank you for reading and thank you for commenting. You are correct that the credit is based on…Read More salary, however my intention was simply to note that there is a credit that can be claimed. According to Form 2441 (Child and Dependent Care Credit Worksheet - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f2441.pdf) and my experience as a tax preparer, if you earn more than $43,000 the limit is 20% of up to $3,000 spent on one child or $6,000 spent on more than one child. That translates to up to $600 for one child or $1,200 for multiple children for one parent/guardian/household. $600 can make a big difference on a lot of tax returns.

I gave them all the information they asked but when I called back later(twice) I was told that whoever was in charge of the case would get in touch with me(which he never did- leaving a message on my phone with no call back number isn't my idea of getting back to someone) I've still been feeding the poor thing when I can but the tenant is being evicted at the end of this month and I fear he's going to get rid of the dog
