Sayville Farmers Market To Feature Live Entertainment
Deborah Lombardi kicks off the festivities this weekend.
The Sayville Farmers Market recently opened for the season and will begin to host musical acts every Saturday.
The first performer to kick off the series is singer-songwriter Deborah Lombardi, who will perform Saturday, June 18, from noon - 2:30 p.m. Lombardi, who will also serve as Entertainment Director for this year's farmers market, has started to book acts for each weekend. The market hopes to feature a variety of acts, from solo singer-songwriters, to duos and bands.
The schedule for the next four weeks is as follows:
Saturday, June 18 - Deborah Lombardi
Saturday, June 25 - Katie Pearlman
Saturday, July 2 - Roger Silverberg
Saturday, July 9 - Debra Lynne
Proceeds from the Sayville Farmers Market go to Backpack Pirates, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping less fortunate children. It's this great cause that helped convince Deborah to get more musicians on board.
"I'm glad to not only perform at the market, but to help coordinate ongoing music events, so it keeps the momentum going for the whole season," Lombardi said. "The farmers market is in a new, more visible area that will provide a great outlet of exposure for local musicians, and it's also great to be apart of an event that supports our local farmers and a local charity."
The Sayville Farmers Market's new location is at the Islip Town Grange, located at the corner of Broadway & Montauk Highway in Sayville. The market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. through November.
