Get Out Weekend Planner: Bayport 5K, Bret Michaels, Mark Wood Performs with BBP Orchestra

Weekend events happening in Bayport-Blue Point and beyond.

1. 5K Run/Walk

Where/When: Bayport-Blue Point High School auditorium, 200 Snedecor Avenue, Bayport; Day of race registration begins at 8 a.m. on April 17, race begins at 9 a.m.

Why Go: All proceeds will go to the Bayport-Blue Point Track Club to help support the Suffolk County Relays.

2. Bret Michaels Comes to Patchogue

Where/When: Patchogue Theatre for The Performing Arts, 71 E Main St, Patchogue; Thursday, April 15, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: As front man for the legendary rock band Poison, Bret Michaels has sold 25 million records and scored an amazing 15 chartbusting Top 40 singles including "Talk Dirty to Me," "Something to Believe In," "Nothing But a Good Time" and the timeless #1 smash "Every Rose Has its Thorn". His album, Custom Built debuted in July at #1 on the hard rock charts. He is a Celebrity Apprentice winner, and has been the star of his own VH1 Television series, Rock Of Love.

3. Concert

Where/When: Bayport-Blue Point High School auditorium; Thursday April 15, 7:30 p.m.

Why Go: This concert is part of a Girl Scout Silver Award project, the 'Electrify Your Strings' - Inferno Tour, starring Theresa Heaney, Mark Wood (former member of Trans-Siberian Orchestra) and the middle school and high school orchestras. Rock Out with the premier electric rock violinist Mark Wood. Theresa Heaney has visited local businesses over the past year asking for donations to fund this music education program. Celebrate with Theresa as she brings this experience to the community.

4. Healthy Kids Day

Where/When: YMCA Patchogue Family Center, 255 W Main St, Patchogue; Saturday, April 16, 2 p.m.-4 p.m.

Why Go: The Patchogue Family YMCA is encouraging all kids and parents to come to the Y for a play date and commit to being active every day. Features activities such as zumba, family basketball and soccer, teen fitness, an egg race, face painting, new GaGa Pit, rock-wall climbing and more.

5. Saturday Buffet Brunch

Where/When: View, 3 Consuelo Place, Oakdale; Saturday, April 16, noon-4 p.m.

Why Go: Lessing’s revamped riverfront destination overlooking the Great South Bay hosts a lavish champagne buffet brunch. Includes unlimited champagne and mimosas, chef’s selection of sushi rolls and raw bar items, two roasts carved to order, omelettes made to order and more.

Pricing: $29.95 per person, half-price for children ages 12 and under, and free for those age 3 and under. Reservations are requested.
