Calarco Sworn in as Legislator

Rob Calarco starts his first term as county legislator of the 7th District.

Democrat Rob Calarco was sworn into office on Tuesday at the Suffolk County Legislature.

Calarco, elected by a narrow margin over Bellport businessman John Giannott, previously worked as chief-of-staff to former Leg. Jack Eddington, and will serve the 7th Legislative District consisting of Patchogue, Medford, Bellport, Blue Point, Farmingville, Holtsville and Gordon Heights among others.

“I am absolutely committed to making the communities in the 7th Legislative District and our county as a whole a safer and better place to live and work,” Calarco said in a release.

Calcaro said that among his goals while in office was to work with Patchogue Village and the Friends of the Carnegie Library in their effort to find a new location and funding, a location for the Patchogue Health Center in East Patchogue, find funding for Canaan Lake in North Patchogue, convert the Blue Point Laundry site into a better location for the community and work with the Gordon Heights Chamber of Commerce to develop its business district.
