The Bayport-Blue Point Girls Track team won the Suffolk County League V Championship last weekend, with the Phantoms scoring 111 points to beat out John Glenn (86 points), Shoreham Wading River (52), Port Jefferson (51) and seven other teams.
This is the second league championship this year for the Bayport-Blue Point Girls Cross Country and Track and Field programs, and fifth straight league championship dating back to the 2010 cross country season.
Coach Vin Ungaro said the athletes did not disappoint.
"As always, the girls showed remarkable toughness and depth by having most girls compete in two or three events during the nearly three-hour meet and still coming back to be League Champions in the 4 x 400 meter relay and the 4 x 800 meter relay," Ungaro said.
The other two individual League Champions were Jordan Collins in the Shot Put and Bailey Walker in the 55 meter hurdles. Other point scorers in the meet include Courtney Dooley, Katie Saroka, Brianna Delzell, Taylor Darby, Annie Caminiti, Rachel Steinmuller, Sam Triani, Casey Hasher, Allison Coyle, Emily LaPorta, Kathleen Cibuls, Arielle DiCocco and Shannon O'Hara.
