Former Sayville Superintendent To Run N.J. School District

Dr. Rosemary Jones named superintendent of Rutherford schools.

The retirement of former Sayville School District Superintendent Dr. Rosemary Jones is over, at least for the next three years.

On Wednesday, Jones was named superintendent of the Rutherford School District in New Jersey, according to a report on NorthJersey.com. She has a three-and-a-half year contract that runs through July 2015.

Prior to , Jones held the top administrative post in the Sayville School District for 13 years. She will make $157,000 annually and was hired by the Rutherford Board of Education after a year-long search.

"She has incredible background experience," Rutherford BOE president Thom Casadonte told NorthJersey.com. "She started a lot of programs that turned a good district into a great district and I feel very much she can do the same thing with us."

According to NorthJersey.com, the Rutherford board conducted a search in early 2011, but stopped after New Jersey placed caps on superintendent’s pay in February of this past year.
